মধ্যপ্রাচ্যে কাজ করতে গিয়ে বাংলাদেশের নারীরা কী মাত্রায় নির্যাতনের শিকার হচ্ছেন, গতকাল শনিবার প্রথম আলোয় প্রকাশিত প্রতিবেদনে তা পরিষ্কার।

After the Philippines, Indonesia and India banned sending housemaids to the Middle East, the maids started being sent from Bangladesh.

The probe report stated, “We cannot send our women to Saudi Arabia to be raped or tortured.”
মধ্যপ্রাচ্যে নারী গৃহকর্মী পাঠিয়ে বাংলাদেশের যে অভিজ্ঞতা হলো, তা বিবেচনায় নিয়ে করণীয় ঠিক করা জরুরি হয়ে পড়েছে।
Based on Bangladesh’s experience of sending women to the Middle East, it is to be determined what is to be done about the matter.
নারী গৃহকর্মীদের নিরাপত্তা নিশ্চিত করার কোনো কার্যকর উদ্যোগ নেওয়া যায় কি না, তা দেখতে হবে।
It should be seen whether any tangible steps can be taken to ensure the women’s security.
যদি তা সম্ভব না হয়, তবে নারী কর্মী পাঠানো বন্ধ করে দেওয়ার মতো চূড়ান্ত সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়ার কোনো বিকল্প নেই।
If not, a final decision must be taken to stop sending women there.
