The attack on the police in Ashulia yesterday,(গতকাল আশুলিয়ায় পুলিশের উপর আক্রমণে which killed one and injured four others,(একজন নিহত এবং অন্য চারজন আহত হয়েছে) has just ratcheted up(ক্রমশ বৃদ্ধি the problem in an already jittery(ভীতিগ্রস্ত করা) law-and-order(আইন-শৃঙ্খলা) situation. That police on duty(দায়িত্ব রত অবস্থায়) can be attacked (আক্রমনের শিকার হতে পারে )from very close quarters(তল্লাশি চৈৗকির খুব নিকটে) in broad daylight (দিবালোকে)was hitherto(এই পর্যন্ত) unheard( নজিরবিহীন , অশ্রুত)of. Attacking law enforcers is equivalent to an attack on the State (আিইন শৃঙ্খলা রক্ষাকারী বাহিনীর উপর হামলা আর রাষ্ট্রের উপর হামলা একই কথা). The statement given by the minister of home affairs in the aftermath of the latest incident is not enough( সাম্প্রতিক ঘটনা সংগঠনের পর স্বরাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রীর দেয়া ভাষণ যথেষ্ট নয়). The State should respond effectively(কার্যকর ভাবে and decisively(ধীরস্থিরভাবে , স্পষ্টভাবে, সন্দেহাতীতভাবে ). Failure to bring to book(বিচার না করার ব্যর্থতা Those responsible for the recent spate of deadly attacks on writers and now the police (সম্প্রতি পুলিশ ও ব্লগারদের মর্মান্তিক হত্যার জন্য দায়ীwill merely strengthen(যা কেবল শক্তিশালী করবে the hands of whoever is responsible for masterminding these operations.(দুষ্কৃতকারীদের হাতকে)

We repeat, the law enforcing agencies should be allowed to function free of political interference(আমরা পুনরায় বলব আইনশৃঙ্খলা রক্ষাকারী বাহিনীদের রাজনৈতিক হস্তক্ষেপ থেকে মুক্ত রাখা and their proficiency(দক্ষতা) including their ability(সক্ষমতা to protect themselves against surprise attacks(হঠাত আক্রমনের should be enhanced(বর্ধিত )Through more rigorous(কঠোর , যথাযথ) training and appropriate equipment.
