The এর ব্যবহার
1. এক বা একাধিক ব্যতক্ত বা বস্তুকে নির্দিষ্ট করে বুঝাতে তার পূর্বে the বসে।
Example : The rice of Barisal is famous.
2. জাতীয়তা প্রকাশক শব্দের পূর্বে the বসে।
Example : The English are a brave nation.
3. কোনো কিছুর ওপর জোর দেওয়ার জন্য Noun এর আগে the বসে।
Example : Kamal is the man who has done the work.
4. Superlative Degree এর পূর্বে the বসে।
Example : Hamya is the best boy in the class.
5. বর্ণনামূলক বা অর্থপূর্ন দেশের নামের পূর্বে the বসে।
Example : He lives in the U.S.A.
6. যত তত বুঝাতে comparative Degree এর পূর্বে the বসে।
Example : The sooner, the better.
7. রাজনৈতিক দলের নামের পূর্বে the বসে।
Example : Nur Islam joined the Awami league.
8. সংবাদপত্রে নামের পূর্বে the বসে।
Example : I read the Bangladesh Protidin everyday.
9. Proper noun এর পর গুনবাচক শব্দ থাকলে তার পূর্বে the বসে।
Example : Akbar the great was a mighty ruler.
10. সূর্য, তারা, আকাশ, চন্দ্র, ঐতিহাসিক ঘটনা প্রভৃতির আগে the বসে।
Example : The earth moves round the sun.
